The dramatic weakening of the Australian Dollar has again forced paper prices north with price increases of between 6.0%-11.0% due to come into effect as of October 15th.

From the unprecedented highs of July, when the $AUD climbed to $0.98c, through a series of catastrpohic global economic events which has seen the dollar slump as low as $0.72 during early October.

The nett effect of the currency devaluation coupled with continued increases received from international paper mills due to the rising production and energy costs, is a sharp rise in the cost of both raw materials and imported paper products.

PAPER X CHANGE GAINS MOMENTUM

The latest series of price increases has once again forced paper buyers to review purchasing options as purse strings tighten.

Paperboys recognise that paper, like anything, remains a valuable commodity even after it has left the merchants floor. Often stocks are purchased for jobs that for whatever reason never proceed to print. These stocks remain on the buyers floor as surplus, taking up valuable space and more importantly working capital.

Paperboys now offer a new service focused on turning your surplus to requirements paper stock into cash!!

Paper X Change is unique service that allows surplus stock to be traded after market, often at saving from the original buy price.

PAPER PRICES ON THE RISE AGAIN

Paper Mills worldwide continue to pass on substantial price increases on paper and board as the Australian market continues to feel the squeeze from overseas influences.

July saw prices increase between 4%-6% on the back of further pressures from the cost of raw materials and crude oil pricing.

The strength of the $AUD has negated some of the impact, but analysts remain sceptical about the volatility of the currency market meaning paper stocks are yet to see the true benefit of a strong dollar.

The latest increase is the fourth of it's kind since October 2007 with further movements expected later in 2008.

PRICE INCREASES FOR NOVEMBER

Major suppliers are once again announcing across the board price increases. This will be the third across the board increase this year arising from spiralling fuel and material costs.

Paperboys wish to advise that increase to all our products will be approximately 6% effective November 1, 2008:

Paperboys introduced a striking innovation to the paper merchant world with the launch of the first ever Paper Porter.

Paperboys Sales & Marketing Director Craig Tillotson launched the Paper Porter sending notice to the printing industry that paper will never be carried the same way again.
